Severity : Medium

Description: This control ensures that all load balancers have backend servers to route traffic to. All load balancers must have compute instances in each backend set to route the incoming traffic to. Those without any are consuming costs without providing any functionality. Additionally, old LBs with no instances present a security concern if new instances are accidentally attached.

Remediation Steps:

Perform following to delete load balancer with no backend servers:

  1. Login to the OCI console at https://www.oracle.com/cloud/sign-in.html.

  2. In the navigation, click Networking.

  3. click Load Balancers.

  4. Click the load balancer reported to terminate.

  5. Click Terminate.

  6. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
